OMG, I cant believe this

ew1074 Apr 23, 2004 04:01 AM

I was feeding my three geckos, two of which i noticed are not eating. ONe stopped a little over a month ago, the other stopped a couple of weeks ago. I've been trying everything to get them to eat. Well, my normal and albino were in the same hide tonight, and as my normal tried to leave the hide, my albino blocked her path, then bit her on the back of the neck. I was so mad i yanked her out of there and put her in a rubbermaid. Then both of my others came straight out and cleared the mealworm dish. Thats a strange coincidence. Should i leave my albino in the rubbermaid permenantly? I think my other two may be intimidated by her. I tried seperating my patternless a while ago but it didnt help. Thanks for reading.

two haven't ate in a month and you just seperated them???????? seperate all of them until the two that aren't eating start.

No, they have eaten, but not on a consistent basis. And only one of them has gone that long not eating every day. I've only seen my patternless eat a few times in the last month. And i have tried seperating them, if you would've read my whole post i mentioned that. Dont jump to conclusions, and dont you dare accuse me of not trying to help them. I've done everything in my power to help them, it looks like i've just been seperating the wrong ones. They have been extremeley healthy for almost a year that i've had them now. They still have very fat tails. "two haven't ate in a month and you just seperated them????????"
I'm sorry but i take offense to stuff like that. "seperate all of them until the two that aren't eating start." Well, they are seperated and they both ate good tonight, did you even read the last half of my post? Look, i'm just gonna stop typing here. I apologize, but please dont accuse me of not helping my animals anymore.

i am not accusing you of not helping your animals. You said you seperated one of the three. You also said two weren't eating. You said one hasn't eaten in a month, not on and off. And one hasn't eaten in like a couple weeks. why did you take offence to "two haven't eaten in over a month and you haven't seperated them????"? that is what i got out of your original post. but why did you only seperate one that wasn't eating?

"And your just now seperating them" The reason thats offensive is for two reasons. 1. I have tried seperating them already. 2. The way you typed that, to me, means: "why havnt you done that already, if you cared about your animals you would've done that along time ago." Either that or your taking me for a moron, which would be completely unjustified.

ok. Sorry for offending you.

You called your albino "her"....are you sure about that?
The neck biting behavior sounds an awful lot like a mating attempt.....
Are you sure your animals aren't getting ready to provide you with some eggs?

ew1074 Apr 23, 2004 11:09 AM

Yes, i have all females. I just checked again to make sure. I dont know why they would've started eating all of the suddon, right when i took her out. I'll just have to wait and see, but I think the albino may have been bullying the other two. She was a tad bigger than them also.

I know that when my geckos are really hungry and they know its feeding time they get all jumpy and anything that moves they try to eat. So i have had afew bite eachother, i dont know though, they all still each and are healthy, but just thought i would add something to this discussion.

ew1074 Apr 23, 2004 11:32 AM

I thought about that too, but the reason i'm thinking that the albino was kind of a bully, is because my other two finally ate. That seems like to much of a coincidence to me, but i will find out at feeding time tonight.

WingedWolfPsion Apr 24, 2004 07:12 AM

Well, it seems that you have solved the problem by seperating out the bully. I wonder if she's a "hot" female? Or just really pissy, lol....
It's understandable, if you hadn't seen her harrassing them before, that you wouldn't have caught on to the problem earlier.
Always suspect the largest animal, though, when it comes to potential bullying/stress situations.
