depends on the snake, my first hook have this massive solid steel one. I tryed to use it on my amazon tree boas and couldnet move the hook fast enough. I ended up trading it in for a hook on the end of a golf club.

The colapasable hook from midwest tongs is my best tool.Strong and light it works great.I also have the gentile giant tongs from them that are great for my hot's.
