Would this work for you?

My brother-in-law and my sister had WAY different ideas on what they wanted in their house, so they ended up declaring the basement was his room to do as he liked. He refinished it, and put in all his band's equipment and his hunting gear and stuff, and it actually is kinda cool. Could you reach a compromise where a room or part of the house is yours for your animals? Means you'd have to clean it and stuff, but worth it (although now my sis goes in the basement and likes it well enough to clean it).
I have my snakes and lizards pretty much throughout the house and my husband doesn't mind too much, but not every relationship is that way, I know...besides, my husband can't complain - he brought home the first reptile!

Well, you have to come to a compromise somewhere. I just moved in this house with my new significant other. It was a mess at first. I got a large loft type room upstairs to have as my play room and it is working well. I have it as my combination hunting, fishing, reloading and reptile room. I just love it. Kinda like my own personal little den or something. I do have a nice 65 gallon corn snake exibit in the living room though cause it looks cool. If you can't come to some kind of decision like that it will cause strife and problems because somebodys not going to be happy. I would like to build a nice 24 x 30 loft garage with a full interior for my reptile/hobby room eventually myself.

This is MY house ... yeah he signed on the dotted line also, but my hubby would tell you straight to your face... What the wife says goes LOL

Guess I am lucky for it too
I went from one end of the spectrum to the other. From an ex who wanted to keep me quiet, barefoot and pregnant to one who would give me the world if he could.

Funny you should bring this up. Was just talking to my mom tonight, and we are going to make one of the bedrooms upstairs into a "reptile room". I can't wait. Right now, 2 of them are in the bedroom w/me, and another beardie is in my son's bedroom. I like it this way, cause during the summer, I won't have to air-condition the reptile room, since I won't be sleeping there! Problem will be arranging things so my male and female beardies can't see each other. My turtle doesn't mind where he goes, he is happy anywhere, besides, he will be spending most of the summer outdoors (my beardies will get a lot of time outdoors also, in their reptariums).
