To all you Thayeri owners.......

Crested12 Apr 23, 2004 09:30 AM

I recently purchased a melanistic adult proven female and a milk snake phase male to breed this year. They are both brumated and have been feeding for a month now. I am going to introduce them soon and hope to get some eggs this year. My question is, what percentages of the possible morphs have you breeders gotten with your thayeri's? Thanks 4 reading_Ben Hoksch

Thayeri above all are the most variable and unpredictable, thus the common name, "the variable kingsnake".
Unless these Thayeri of yours have been line bred for years, then one cannot expect to predict what the offspring would look like.
Unless the milksnake phased thayeri carries the melanistic trait then you will not produce any black thayeri. As for milksnake phased offspring it is too unpredictable to actually tell you how many you will produce. It may be none.
All I can guarantee is that when hatching time is near you will lose sleep wandering what is going to hatch out next. Just like Christmas time when they arrive. Good Luck and you let US know how it comes out.
