Posting Photos

Sorry about asking this again as I'm sure it's been ask 800 times (at least) before. But I see that you can upload photos to the photo gallery. I've tried to do that but it says the photo exceeds the 250K limit. So I checked and my image is 860K. How can I make the file size smaller? Will it loose resolution to make it smaller? Also, once it's posted on the photo gallery how can I add it to my message on this board? Do I just cut and paste the URL that's displayed when I'm looking at the photo in the gallery?

Thanks for any help!

What type of file is your picture saved as? If it is a .bmp file, you should convert it to a .jpg file. That will decrease the size of the file. If it is already a .jpg you will need to resize it to get the file size down to under 250k. If you don't have a picture editor of some sort, you can find a shareware or freeware editor at www.download.com

Personally, I use ACDSee by ACD Systems to organize and resize my photos.

you need to use a photo editing applciation to resize it. resize it to 4 x 6 inches, or 5 x 7 inches max, at 72 dpi. The dpi is key: 300 dpi is nice for pictures you're having printed. But 72 matches the display resolution of a monitor, so anything higher than that 72 dpi doesn't yield better results, but does a lot to add to size. Size to the specs above and i don't think you'll have any prob coming in under the size limit.

Thanks for the reply. The photos are JPEGs. I'll try to download some editing program. Thanks again.
