Misting system, should I bother?

JaredJ Apr 23, 2004 11:46 AM

Ok, I have my terrarium sculpted and ready to plant but before I go any further I need to decide if I should use a misting system or just do it manually with a garden sprayer. I had dart frogs before and don't mind misting with a sprayer. The main thing was I was going to do a DIY misting system with misters/foggers from Home Depot but regular aquarium powerheads just won't cut it and I don't want to buy an expensive pump. We're only talking one 37H tank, and maybe another 20L in the future. Think it's necessary or just save the $$$?

No, You could go with a fogger to add a nice touch. My opion is it would be a waste of time and money to set a misting sys up for one tank. Now if you had 3 or more then is might help a tad but still not much.

Hi guys,

Just a question: would a fogger be successful in cooling a viv as well? My concerns are more on the cooling effect rather than the humidifiying side.

thanks

I think a misting system is a good idea even if you only have one cage. Frogs like it when you keep constant. It will help with cooling, where a fogger will not. you could just buy one for $100, and it would be expandable. The only reason I dont like them is you should really have a drainage hole, or some sort of pump. Some of my frogs get rather upset when I have to rescure them off their coconut huts.
