dragon walking weird *PIC*

Snakebyt Apr 23, 2004 12:07 PM

My male dragon has started walking really weird, do dont do it all the time, but about half the time he does it. he will walk on the back of his wrist. What could cause this? could it be genetic? vitamin defencies?
Any suggestions?

Looks like a calcium problem. How long have you had him? Whats his set up like and his sup schedule, etc?

Oh and you have a LOT of pepples, etc in that sand. Not a good idea. I would sift those larger pieces out before you run into a possible impaction problem.

Get some Brewers Yeast tablets, slurry/dissolve it in some water and give it to your dragon via eyedropper/syringe. Brewer's Yeast is a multi-complex B-vitamin suppliment.

You can also go to vet and get a Vitamin B shot, which would work much faster.

I have always heard wrist walking was a calcium issue. This is the first I have heard of it relating to Vit B. I am not saying you are wrong, just curious why you say that?

I learned it from Joel, who used to post here a couple years ago, and has done extensive research...some others that are no longer here also concur.
I saved this post from a couple years ago..
b22 also had this problem at one time with one of his beardies and I believe it was also treated w/Brewers Yeast, If I remember right.

It is a neuro problem, not a bone problem..

I've never heard of crushing it on veggies. It's probably be beat to stick with what has worked for others at this point.

It may not correct completely, but it will certainly get better. Remember, don't go buy Vitamin B..You need Brewers Yeast, it is a V-B complex. Crush the tablet, then dissolve in water.

One thing to consider before immediatly assuming this is a vitamin B deficiacy. Has the BD been to the vet recently and had any shots? I took mine in about three months ago and he was given a shot of Droncit. Well when the doc stuck him in the front arm with the needle, Smeagol decided to struggle a little and in the process the needle severed a nerve in his front arm. For the next month he walked around on his wrist and fully recovered in about a month and a half.

While I agree with Christy that a VitaminB deficiancy is the most likely reason, it is also not the only possible cause.

Owie!! Your poor beardie. I'd not heard of that happening before, thanks..
This beardie is walking on both wrists though..
