How long do I need to feed crickets?

mellordies Apr 23, 2004 01:38 PM

My little guy is getting big fast, well, only like 20 inch, but 3 of that was in the last month or so. He'll eat 15-20 crickets a day, then a hopper or 2 on top of that. Getting tired of the cricket thing, when can I stop?

In my opinion, if your little friend is eating hoppers it would be ok to stop with the crickets. Mice/Rats provide plenty of nutrients. I would continue to dust his food with calcium and provide good UV though. They need all they can get due to their tremendous growth rate. I also use vitamins once every 10 days in place of the calcium.

I took a photo of my blue Tegu about every month during his growth and was simply amazed at how fast he grew. If you are interested in viewing them they are on my website (link below) in the Photos/Tegu section
