Where Can I get an Indoor Misting System?

masterplan Jun 15, 2003 12:43 AM

I just read an old post about people that have misting systems for their indoor cages. Does anyone know where I can find indoor misting systems to set-up in my two Cham's cages?

I currently have two 36 x 18 x 18 (screen) cages and I hand-spritz then the old fashioned way. I would love to set-up a misting system for them instead.

Please let me know.

Hi-

You can get a good misting system at www.cloudtops.com/misting_systems.htm

Hope this helps!

Altough these misting setups are nice the simple truth is one could be peiced together for half the price at home. The only hard part to find are those nozzles and lucky for us you can buy them seperately.the rest is basicly just a fish pump rubbermaid bin some hosing and a timer. If you want to spend that money go ahead but ther isnt realy a need

Sorry but it is not just that easy! Regular fish pumps dont make enough pressure to produce mist, it is more like a drip. The pump in the kits are pressure pumps and dont work like fish pumps. If you did find a fish pump strong enough it would cost more then the kits and it would not last long.

If thats what you believe go ahead and believe it. I've already seen the proof that the words that just came out of your mouth arent true. fish pumps come in a wide variety of GPH ranges all wehad to do was turn down an adapter on a lathe glue it on to the pump and run the hoses. you can create mist with a hand sprayer, you can create mist with a fish pump its not rocket science, but as long as your throwing money away why dont you send some my way

So using those fine mist nozzles, a digital timer and a POND PUMP, not a high-pressure(expensive) pump, you get mist out of the nozzles?
What kid of pump( GPH/M) do you use, and for the adapter(from the output of the pump, to the 1/4" tubing) what did you use? My father has a lath--convienient--so I'm sure I could do it.

I was under the assumption that a pond pump would not produce enough pressure, I have heard it from many, but nobody has actually tried it. I was going to, but I got lazy.
Does it produce a mist, or does it simply drip?
I thought about it, as I have the nozzles and tubing, could get a bucket, digital timer and pump. It would cost me $20-$30 for the timer, and $20-$30 for the pump. About half what the cheapest misting system costs. Does it actually work?

I'm going to go over there and scope out exactly what he has going on over there and then I'll email you what it was he did. I know that it produces a mist thats as fine as any spray bottle and that he built the whole setup for like $60 bucks. I remember this because he kept telling me how glad he was he didn't go spend all that money buying a a pro misting system over and over again.

I talked to my freind and he sent me this web site

WWWTRIX.COM/BINX/MISTER

This is the system he's using I mistoke the valve hes has on there for a fish pump sorry for any confusion this may have caused. He actualy uses this system to mist 4 rubbermaid bins he uses to house leaftail geckos but said you could easily 3-4 cham enclosures

That link doesn't work.

In any event, thanks so much for the feedbackon this issue. I'm going to look at the Mr. Mister system from LLL or the Big Apple Misting System here:
http://www.bigappleherp.com/Pages/Product/296200.html

I figure for the extra $40, it's probably worth getting one that's all put together (I'm really not that handy to build one from scratch!).

Thanks again!

here's the correct adress although it seems kind of touchy for reasons I dont understand

www.trix.com/binx/mister

I was doing more research on misting systems just because I too am starting to accumualte enough animals that one is becomeing neccesary I honestly like the one from cold cloud, but have found atleats 20-30 different kinds by going to the Google search engine and typing in the words "MISTING SYSTEMS" It appears that the misters have a cross over between indoor gardening and herp keeping and if you dont mind getting one that doesnt specificaly say its for reptiles you can get more nozzles and attachments for about the same price if not cheaper. They are the same thing. Happy Hunting
