breeding time ?

do bloods breed during cool down or after. I have a known pair
(actually 2.1) and just finished cooldown with decreased photo period (I was forced to start it late) at which time they were not together they have all excepted their first meal . DId I miss my boat or is now the time a would guess it wouldn't hurt to try right? any help is greatly aprieciated
