I used to use two halogen bulbs. I think they're great and would still use them if I didn't get enough heat from my PowerSuns.

FYI, use the ones you would buy at your home improvement store made by regular brand names like GE, Sylvania, etc. Don't waste your money on a halogen bulb manufactured by a reptile manufacturer as they are the same thing and 2-3 times the price!

I got a "deal" on some zoo med halogens. they lasted about a week before they all blew! as was alreay said, home depot... name brands... just be mindful in your choice of wattage and spot or flood! It is always a good idea to check temps for 24 hours before placing the animal in the enclosure

Thats great...mine are the same way. i thought it was pretty crazy too. So how are the bulbs working? Do you have a male and a female? Do you house them together? Just curious.

Not at all. Mine took to me at 6 weeks (from the day I got him), and he always wanted to be on me or around me. Of course he might have just been thankful I had opened the tight-holed container at the reptile expo, but ever since then he sticks to me like glue.

yeah im having real probs getting my viv bright...to make matters worse some dude in uk forum just told me the 8.0 exa terra doesnt give much visible spectrum so its pretty dull...well thats great ..grr..i got it to try brighting things up...i thought 33% uva ment good lighting..dunno if hes winding me up cause im scottish.(got to watch these english..lol)..so maybe i just should have stuck to 5.0....any you guys heard that the 8.0 exo terra reptisun gives off poor visible light??????i have noticed it dont seem brighter and the bulb is longer and higher wattage than last bloody one..im almost at the stage where im just gonna pull my hair out as i need it brighter...cant get double uv strip...pass the knife the wrists are getting it..lmao..ive now got enough bulbs and fitting for 3 vivs..

Hey man, I'm just waking up so if this doesn't make any sense let me know and I'll try to clear it up later. So the 8.0 isn't bright enough...huh. You could always add a normal flourescent strip to the top that would brighten it up. I always used the double flourescent fixtures when I ran these, 1 bulb the UV and 1 bulb just a normal bright white. Take a valium and calm down, it's just cage building, not rocket science lol. I agree with the others on the basking bulb also, just get a normal GE halogen the reptile ones are a rip off.

My Dino fell asleep on my shoulder the first night I got him (as did I). I got up the next morning, in a panic, searching my room, top to bottom, no lizard. Finally I went down stairs to break the news to my mom (she wasn't to happy about the beardie thing at first, now she loves them). She just looked at me and laughed. That crazy dragon was still on my shoulder!! After 8 hours of sleep!! I am amazed at myself and thank god I did not roll over and crush him! We are best buds now.
