***need expert help on fattening up and coloring up my dragon!!!***

let me just start by saying frank is healthy, he's just bored. Right now im building him a new cage. im going to buy some more cage furniture for him. He's really picky on what he likes. He plain ignores it if he doesnt like it, so what are some fun furniture that your beardies usually enjoy?

Frank gets bored with things easily. he used to love mealies, he wont touch them now. same with kale and crickets. he is eating everyday, just not vigorously like he used to probably just enough to get through the day. but he usually eats alot of collared greens. he's lost some weight. what are some nice fattening insects? silkworms? zophabos?

I just read on these forums that if your dragon has black rings on its belly then its not showing its full potential. how can i make frank show his full potential potential? he's a redxgold and used to be very good looking but is really dull now.

try wax worms, they are really fatty. also try soaking your beardie in water.

Is it a baby or an adult? (sorry, I only read the topic, not the post, a little lazy tonight). I wouldn't feed too many waxworms, as they are so fatty. If it is warm where you live, you may want to take your dragon outside for some sunshine (on a leash,or in a reptarium). I would try to feed more crickets, maybe try silkworms. They are really nutritous, and dragons do seem to love them. The sunshine may do wonders for his/her color, provided it is warm, and you have him on a leash or in a reptarium or enclosed area (you don't want him to run off).

Ok, just read the post, sorry. Sounds like he is an adult, correct? I think some adults may lose their color with age, but someone please correct me. Once they get to be adults, I don't think they are quite as interested in live prey as they were when young, this may be why he is eating so much collard. I would really try bringing him outside. I think the rays of the sun may brighten him up. I am kind of going through the same thing with my 10 month old beardie. He is slowing down eating live prey, but then again, he has just come off a treatment for coccidia. Negative for now, we will see again next week. Maybe bring a stool sample to the vet, just for a check, to be on the safe side.

yeah he's almost a year old now. im in kentucky. its not quite warm enough now for outside play but yes when its warm I do that. I give him baths, he actually likes those. He's not sick but i just need some help making his life a lil more fun.

I gave frank a nice 2 hour soak in the sun and he really colored up but he was kinda stressed at first with the birds chirping and all, but there isnt anything I can do about the birds chirping.

I plan on building three of those cages. Each cage would have a zoomed powersun and a 75 watt bulb to make it really light in the cages.

I ordered 500 wax worms today to fatten up frank. he's never had any so i would put money on him loving them. He's eaten alot of veggies these past few days so he's put on some weight.

i think these cages will be pretty spiffy. the only thing im concerned about is the a new substrate for frank. im gonna put the babies on paper towel (what frank is on right now). but frank is definitly old enough for a "adult" substate. I want to use bran which my dad uses so we have alot of it. But how could I use bran with a screen cage like that?
