TEMPS: How do I get them up for my Blood Python????

Jerseyguy Apr 23, 2004 08:01 PM

I have a male 1 1/2 year old Blood Python - in a long 20-Gallon long tank - with an UTH, but I also have a lighting fixture for above tank usage - but even with these I still can not get the temps up to the 90-degree level which these snakes need.....
so I also have to use a space heater to heat the glass from the outside....Isn't there any other product I can use to get and keep the temp up in this guys Tank?????

Try moving your blood to something like a large rubbermaid tub. Also remember that you don't want your ambient air temp to be in the 90's. A basking spot of 90 is fine, ambient should be around 82 degrees. I use no light at all on my bloods, just heat tape for a nice basking spot. Measure your temp on the basking spot and see what you get. I bet you it is higher than what it should be. One more thing. Glass tanks do not hold heat well at all.
