moving with Cy

romanobeans Apr 24, 2004 12:13 AM

Once again, I'm looking for advice. Our family is moving from Texas to Georgia and I'm trying to figure out the least stressful way to move Cy our two year old cycura. We adopted him last fall and he's not completely tame yet. We have the option of flying him but I'm leaning more toward having him in the minivan with us (because I'm in control of the situation). Does two days in a pet carrier surrounded by his family seem more stressful than 6 hours in airport & the air?
Any advice? Thanks,
Cydney
P.S> I'm making the assumption that an airline would ship an iguana like they do a dog or cat! DOes anyone know if they do?

Given the choice, I would take him in the car. Delta will ship them like a dog or a cat for about $75. That is how Pete got here from California.

I would opt for the car ride. You can put him in a pillow case and put him in the carrier and he will be less stressed out than if you just put him in the carrier and he can see everything.

He will most likely be stressed and unhappy when you get him there regardless of mode of transportation.

Good luck with your move.

I've heard this pillow case thing before but it seems pretty stressfull to me. The carier is large enough to put his little hideout house in. Why is a pillowcase better? Also, what about food? Do I offer him food during the 2 day trip?
Thanks for the advice,
Cydney

don't offer food if you dont have a basking spot to aid digestion. Just stick with liquids. I would opt for the car ride as well, at least you wont loose hime or drop him from an airplane.
