Dragonchuck Apr 24, 2004 08:54 AM

I will love to see some photo's of your Uromastyx's and cage set up. If its not a bother now. To get some idea's.
I have an 8- foot trough that I would like to make into a Uromastyx cage, It's 8'x3'x2'1/2. I want to use it for some Rainbow Uromastyx when I get them.

Rocky for about, crud, I'm not sure. Maybe 2-3 years? Runako about 1.5 yrs, and RoxIII about a year. We're moving soon and I want to build a large cage for RoxyIII and Runako to share.

sorry for the "non-images." I think fortunecity doesn't like linking to images they host. Sometimes they really stink. I really should move the site...or a redirect.

Here's Ra's setup. I'll be moving him into a bigger tank soon, hopefully along with a nice girl.

In this terrarium lives a Xenagama batilifera, but can also be used for small Uromastyx species.

Can you give me the dimensions of the larger enclosure? It is beautiful. Any directions?? Did you build that one yourself?

Thanks!

The large terrarium is a sort of triangular shaped enclosure.
Its width is 180 cm and it is 100 cm at the deepest point. The highth is 50 cm.
This was a fireplace which I´ve changed into a terrarium.
Last year there was a pair of U. ocellata in it.
Now one male Xenagama batilifera (and in a few weeks I hope there will also be one or two females in it)

Yes I have made the rocks etc. myself. Is not that difficult.
First I have spurted a lot of Polyurethane (PUR) foam on the walls. When this hardened after 24 hours I started to make the actual rocks with a Stanley knife.
After this was done I have smeared some layers of tile-glue (the stuff you use to glue the tiles against the wall of your bathroom or kitchen. After this was dry I have painted it with latex paint. It is a lot of work, but you just have to let your fantasy do the work.

I hope you understand this (my english is not that good)

greetings

Fons

Please tell me where'd you get the racks and how much did they cost?

Great idea.

It's just what I need to get both of my tanks in one corner. How much weight can each shelf hold? Are the heights of each row adjustable. Also, are those cages front opening? If so, where did you get them? They seem perfect for what I want for my bearded dragon and my uro. Right now my bearded dragon is in an overpriced tank that's 36"x18"x25", and the uro is in a tank I picked up cheap after adopting her, which is 48"x13"x14". The bearded tank is too tall, and the uro tank is a little too short, and not wide enough really. Those look perfect. Let me know where you got both and some specs for them please.

Hi all,

First of all, thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. The racks are from Sam's Club. They are 4 feet wide by 18 inches deep, come with four totally adjustable shelves (which can be changed at any time) and have large wheels on the bottom with locks. They are the best investment I have ever made. They cost $69.99 plus your local tax. My cages come from Michigan, and are custom made. I ordered them to fit right on my shelves. Keep in mind that you have to go a tad smaller to fit the cage in the front due to the posts for the rack. Mine are 46 inches long, by 18 inches deep by 16-18 inches high. I paid around $150 for the cages. You can order glass tops or screen. I usually order screen and then I have plexiglass cut to fit over one screen and half of the second screen. The cages are simple to clean, as the doors come right out of the tracks. I use the squarium background around three sides. The guy also makes my arboreal frog cages. I have some 36 inch by 18 inch by 18 inch cages also, they were $95. Hope this helps.

Take care,

Pam

web address, email, phone or anything? Do they ship the cages? They seem like the perfect thing for what I want. I'd hate to steel your cage and shelf idea....oh wait...I'd love to steal your cage and shelf idea. Also, do you know how much weight the shelves can hold? I'm just trying out dirt and retes stacks with my uro, and I would like to be able to use a couple inches of dirt for her, as well as an inch or so of sand for my beardie.

thanks

pgross8245 Apr 26, 2004 05:42 PM

The cages cannot be shipped. I order them and pick them up in Streamwood Illinois at a reptile show. The shelves are very substantial, but I will try to remember to look at the box when I go to Sam's Club this week and post again. I can't see a problem with using the dirt. Good luck!
