Moving a Egg???? HELP

Turtle96 Apr 24, 2004 12:38 PM

My friend does not want to take care of his leopard gecko eggs and wants me to take them. I live a half hour form where he lives. Would there be a risk doing this to the egg? I just dont want to leave the eggs there if he will not take care of them...

okay...given that he hasn't moved the eggs...well maybe not given..."considering" he has not moved the eggs...what i would do is prepare a gladware box of moist vermiculite potting soil...moss..etc...or rubbermaid or whatever box you find most convenient for yourself...and have ur friend mark the top of the egg or do it urself when u go there...and then markit urself with a highliter or something...and then bring a cooler with you...

when u get to his house...make sure the marked top-side of the egg is always facing up....and dig holes to put the egg in face up...or the embryo can drown itself..then put the gladware box in the cooler and put it on the floor of the backseat...this will prevent it from getting in contact with the A/C which might fluctuate the temps...but the cooler should prevent that since its insulated...30 mins should be okay...although im not sure...so don't take my word for it...but considering he doesn't want the eggs...i think the eggs have a better chance with a thirty minute drive than a owner who doesn't want the eggs....so...my advice...go for it...for more incubation advice...reply and ask for it...it doesn'tsound like youve never dealth with geckos so i think alotta this info was already known but whatever...

happy herping- eric chen

Just back them into an insulated container, and make sure the temperatures in your vehicle don't get too high or too low. They'll be fine.
