i live in phoenix az, and it's that time of year where each night, little geckos come out on the wall of our house. i thought i'd try to catch one, to check it out and stuff. THOSE GUYS ARE FAST LITTLE SUCKERS! has anyone ever caught one, and how did you do it?

im sorry this isn't a leo question, but you guys have always been helpful at answering my questions.

thanks!!!

I always find them here in south florida. At night mostly, i look by my front door on the roof and theres atleast 5 of them. Mine are real easy to catch. Good luck.

well...some of them are suckers for baby food...u could keep a dish out with it...i used to catch them with nets....now that was when i lived in a country that considered them pests and when i have never seen leopard geckos...now im guessing ur gonna catch one to scent for your snake?......anyway...here are some ways

1. nets..
2. box with baby food in dish or rubbed onto the inside of the box...it actually works..
3. i usually use a net...but heres one way ive caught like multiple ones...once you see one like on a wall or corner....take big piece of cardboard...and i mean BIG...like when its on a wall u just simply press on the gecko...like kinda 'SQUISHING' not till death of course....but it will restrain the gecko...then simply rub downward and the gecko usually falls down..its really hard to explain...post a reply if u need more clarification...but i would go with nets..it usually isn't too hard...well there were plenty of them where i lived...so...i dunno..might be different for your case...oh and i forgot..have a big box under where the gecko will fall when u rub down...

I’m in AZ also and I think these are what you are talking about
www.mcmartinville.com/chris/reptiles/trips/texas/gecko.htm
(not the best link but it might get you started researching Mediterraneans)

I caught a bunch of them a few years ago and kept them in a 10 gallon tank, they ended up breeding and laying eggs for me. I hatched out like 5 babies, and once they were a decent size I let them go, along with the parents, into my back yard where I found them.

It was my first experience with breeding reptiles, and it basically led me into the leo hobby.

I have a bunch of Green Anoles around my house (I'm in South Texas). www.tpwd.state.tx.us/nature/wild/reptiles/anole/

They are REALLY Fast little suckers, too. I've come close to catching several of them just on my own - they're usually on the side of my house lol.

One time, though, I opened the lid of garbage can, and, lo and behold! there was an anole! I managed to catch it, though I caught a bit of its tail. I brought it inside & put it in an extra tank, took some pics of it when it calmed down (when they're extremely stressed, they turn brown, but once they're calm they're a BEAUTIFUL Green). After that, I let it go back outside my house.

TO actually have geckos and other lizards crawling up and down your walls, to cool!!!

The most i'll find in the house (in the summer) are huge hairy spiders.....not my favourite creature. Outside well thats a different story. About two hours north you can see bears, deer maybe even a moose. Down by me: rabbits, skunks, racoons, skunks, beavers, skunks, deer........did i mention skunks LOL

I did catch a salamander once......showed a guy friend of mine and he screamed and ran away....No lizards so far up here in the great Canadian North that i've found LOL......but my 17 in the house are just great hehehe.

P.S. oops.......ok ya theres some....snakes. Lots of snakes but they were and still are off limits LOL
