New Corn Not Eating

mbdorfer Apr 24, 2004 04:31 PM

How long can/should a corn go without eating before seeking vet help? I got 2 females 2 weeks ago, one is Anery and pounding pnkies! the other is a Hypo Motley and will not eat. She looks a little dark but eyes have never clouded and she doesn't move around a lot. Am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks

Mike B

Two weeks is nothing to worry about. How old/large are they?
What size prey are they being offered? Were you assured that they were both feeding, or are they big enough that it is obvious? Sometimes a decapitated pinky will get a problem feeder kick-started. Duffy

They are 03's and appear well started, very docile(unlike my other corns)and very alert etc. Everything points to her being in the blue except for the eyes. Does hypomelanism affect eye color? Could I not notice the hazing? The pinkies I have been offering have been on the large side and alive. They are in seperate enclosures. I'll give her a few more days of solitude and try a smaller p/k pinkie

Thanks

I'm sure she'll be fine. If she doesn't eat in the next week or so (and don't try to feed her every day!) try a pinky with the head cut off, maybe even placed in a deli cup or other small container with her. That has induced many a finicky young snake of mine to eat. Duffy

Do you have them in seperate tanks?
