I had raised all my babies last year without a single cricket & had great success. I was a firm advocate of the anti-cricket movement "Until" the breakout of super flagellates. lol
I did feed mealies & supers though. I raised my own so I had the appropriate sizes for the babies & when the times just didn't match up (beardie/worm size) they just didn't get any.
I can't say for sure either way nor can anyone else. It's just something your going to have to play with and find out what works for you.
I do have to point out that feeding mealies to babies does have it's risks. You have to be firm with your size/amount judgment. Don't take any risks by feeding too many and don't feed any that my be too big for the given beardie.
I haven't lost any from them but I don't try to push my luck. I'd rather have them grow a little slower while waiting for the next batch of worms to grow out, than risk killing any of my babies!
Keep in mind, their is no set in stone "one & only" way to care for these guys. What might work for one person/beardie, might not work for another. There are so may checks & balances too. If you take one thing away, it can sometimes be made up for in another, or not?????
I hope this didn't confuse you more. lol
Good luck.
