Jackson Chameleon Eye Problem!!!!

I have two Jackson's chameleons (male and female) in a fairly large enclosure. I've had them for a few months now and they were doing great until today. I noticed the female was keeping her eye shut and then began to puff out the skin around the outside of the eye itself. It was quite a large bulge that was red in color resembling the color of blood. This continued for an hour or so and she was rubbing the eye against some plants and logs as if it was irritating her. Now the swelling has gone down although the eye is still shut. She fed today and drank water from the drip system. I supplement calcium and essential vitamins twice per week. I must say that this was noticed immediately after she had drank some water. She went over and sat under the drip system and was getting a shower and rubbing her eye on the wet leaves. They have a powerful UV bulb as well as a standard bulb to bask in. Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a normal eye-washing routine. Could be you're over-supplementing. Could be something stuck in the eye. Could be an infection. If it persists, see a vet. Ed
