tonyz78 Apr 24, 2004 09:08 PM

just after we got maried we were moving around a bunch so for a while we decided no pets, well among the ones we found homes for were my pair of adult leos. i guess all the whining and moaning has paid off cause now that were all settled in she gave me the ok to start again. so anyway i was thinking about a set up and i need some ideas, i have tried the sand thing and didnt like it (looks like a litter box after a day or two)and paper towels arent to pretty, but i was thinking some slate and wood peices with thoes air plants but im not sure where to get them thanks in advance

I don't know how you did it, giving up your pets. I couldn't do it. My geckos are my sweeties but my dog is just my baby and i couldn't let him go no matter what.

Heres a pic of one of my 40 gal tanks. It holds 4 female leos. I use textured ceramic tiles with papertowels where the bathroom area is. Sorry its not the best pic but hopefully it helps.

What colour morph of leo are you planning on getting???

Thanks. There is one difference though. I added Flames own humid hide from when she was alone. She looks like she's carrying eggs again so i thought maybe her own hide would encourage her to lay there. What ALL my tanks need are some decorative background covers. Its my next investment for them.

it was hard to give them up but it was the best thing, all the moving around was pretty stressfull for us and them, we gave them all to freinds so we know they went to good homes, besides the geckos we had, 2 whites tree frogs, a day gecko, a box turtle, a uromastix(mali), 1 iguana i found in my back yard neer chicago, and my wife gave up her ferrits 2 of them

not ready to go dropping the big bucks on fancy geckos yet, but normals are cool enuff on there own. i always thought geckos were some of the best looking and most interesting lizards out ther

Something that would be really neat is get either sand or something your gecko cant eat and put a hollowed out log in the sand so they can go under the sand yet they will still be protected and wont get a cave-in.

I have slate and air plants in my set up. Unfortunately my new baby leos were getting into to much mishief, so I took it all out and put paper towel down. Both the air plants and slate were VERY hard to find, and too expensive when I did find them. I found the air plants at a garden center and the slate was taken out of a fish tank at a pet store (I disinfected it for a day). Sorry to those who are getting sick of this picture I think I have posted it about 10 times.

i found some pretty cheap at a landscaping store and was wondering about glueing them together. do you glue them to the bottum or just each other. and i got a good free supply of drift wood(lake michigan) but how do i clean and sterilize it and what do you use to attach the air plants?
