Why wont they breed?

coolj9688 Apr 24, 2004 10:08 PM

My male and female have been together in the same tank for about a week. My female has bred once before a few years ago and the previous owner of the male says he has bred before (this is the first time i have tried to breed him) Both are eating well and are healthy. They seem to be getting along but neither shows any sexual intrest in the other. Is it possible they could have bred when i wasnt home and have now stopped? The female is 5 years old, could that be a reason why there not breeding? is there anything i can do to make them want to breed more?

Thanks

temperature and barametric pressure can influence breeding. Did they brumate? When did they finish brumation? Where were they introduced, on his territory?

Yes they can breed when you are not looking, only takes a few minutes. Take her out for a few days and place her where he can see her but not get to her then bring her to him.

good luck

Neither the female nor the male brumated and i introduced them on the females territory, i will try your advice about taking her out and letting him see her
