About terrariums

Vashe Jun 15, 2003 07:53 AM

Hello,

I've saw a documentary about Gecko's on tv a few hours ago and these little guys absolutely rock.

I have always loved reptiles and since I am moving to an appartement soon I thought it might be a great thing to get a leopard gecko at my new place.

But I want to make sure I do everything right and make the conditions optimal for the animal to live in.

I passed the last hours reading several sites about how to keep gecko's and feed them and think I can handle it but before I start on it I would like to see how you guys terrariums look where you keep them because I haven't been able to encounter one single picture of a terrarium on the sites I've visited.

Also if there is anyone from Belgium on this forum who could help me find out where I can purchase one of these babies and who could help me out find a store where they can provide me with profesionnal help I woul greatly appreciate if she or he could drop me an email at vashe@pandora.be

Thx in advance for your reply's.

My set ups are pretty basic and they seem t do fine. I find that a basic set up is affordable, easy to keep clean, and that its easier for the leos to find the crix. For substrate I use repti-carpet . I don't recomend sand to anyone. My leo almost died and now has permanent damage do to a sand impaction. I have log hides, grape vines, humid boxes, water and calc. dishes and thats about as extreme mine get. My geckos seem to like it. It really just depends on how extravagent you want your tank to be. Id show you a pic, but unfortunately I havent quite figured out this new camera and all my pics are fuzzy.

It looks great, its even safer than paper towels, absorbs heat well, and its easy to clean.

Here's my setup that houses two leos (originally 3, but one had to be seperated since she decided she doesnt want to play well with others anymore ) anyhoo, the substrate is sanded vinyl floor tile, and i have added a few small pices of slate to the bottom of the cage since then.

your head will collapse, but there's nothing in it, and you'll ask yourself, "where is my mind"

I greatly appreciate your compliments. My 2 adults that are in there now LOVE it, they both love to climb and love the hammocks. My patternless will be joining them in about a month, so hopefully they will all get along.
