Need some advice on first hatchlings

Snakemother Jun 15, 2003 08:04 AM

Our two little fellas hatched last night, and did not have egg yolks attached - just round little bellies. Now they're in the incubator looking quite perky. Should I take them out and put them in a nursery tank now, or wait longer? What temp should I have the nursery tank at?
Thanks!

I beleive you can put them into their own tank now with basking temps around 100 F to 110 F.

This is what I do...

I keep the hatchlings in a tank with damp paper towels. This helps retain the moisture. I use heating pads under the tank for heat. Then after about 1 week, I move the olders one to a thank with UV light and don't wet the paper towels any more but I spritz them 2-3 times a day. I keep the temp just a bit lower at the high end, about 100 degrees F. At the low end it is about 80.

Congrats!!! Have fun!!

I believe you guys are keeping your tanks too cool for the little ones. It needs to be 105-110 degrees at the hot end.
