ADF Might be sick. Please help

dreamers Apr 25, 2004 02:53 AM

I have 4 ADF and 2 have grown up and are extremely healthy, the third one is well on her way to being full grown and healthy. Recently I rescued a wee tiny one who was doing well the first week and a bit. But today for she's been floating at the top of the tank. She's active, and she darts here and there, and she is eating, she just refuses to go to the bottom of the tank, I have separated her for a bit, to make sure she's eating which she did. Not as great as she used to, but she's eating. Is there something wrong with her? or is this just a phase she's going through? I appreciate any help you all might offer. Thanks

My ADF's LOVE to go to the top of the tank and just hang out at the top. Usually they brace themselves up on the heater or behind the filter and stay there for quite some time. I would think your little one is just fine, probably just having an enjoyable day!

Thank you for the reply, and chuckling yeah you were right. The little one is back on the bottom trying to boss around the biggest one of them all. It's a lil scrapper that one.

Aren't they the best!! I had the same question when I first got my ADF's. They sure do keep us on our toes don't they!! I have a couple of snails in with them now and one of the snails - a Japanese Trap Door Snail likes to go to the top of the tank and then just let go!! I'm so worried he is going to crash into one of the four frogs at the bottom. I'm going to go grey very early with these little critters.

I hear you, my frogs have figured out that if they float, they can take turns dive bombing onto my floating plants. In effort to take rides. You have snails in the tank?.. I heard it wasn't too great. I have 2 algae eaters in the tank and they are best buds. The bigger of the aglae eater actually lifts one of the frogs cleans underneath it, and puts it back down. It's entertaining to watch it.
