To Froggy and others: I rather believe experts (more..)

Your service in Iraq provides you with some experience but does not make you an expert.

I rather believe people who are experts for the islamic religion and the Middle East as for example the German journalist and Middle East expert Peter Scholl-Latour who has spend decades (I think he is more than 70 years old) in foreign countries. He even reported from Vietnam in the 60ies.

The muslim religion allows to deceive the opponents in certain situations and act friendly to them. Initially this form of behaviour was granted by the Sunni mullahs in order that Sunni muslems could move among Shiits without being recognized as Sunnis. Later this kind of behaviour (there is a special muslim word for it) was assumed by the entire muslims (shiits and sunnis).

This allows radical muslims to dwell in western countries as citizens and wait for the day they get the order to attack.
They hate us straight from the heart but act friendly and cordial.

This is what you partly have experienced in Iraq. Of course there are people who are glad that you are there (especially the christians in Iraq). But this is a minority. The majority are Shiits, then come the Sunnis.

In my opinion Saddam Hussein was the perfect lid to keep the mess in the kettle.

The reasons for the war your president uttered was a downright lie. He wanted war from the first day he became President. The exact reasons are obscure, but the main reasons were surely not war on terrorism or weapons of mass destruction but to protect Israel and get hands on the oil. But this doesn't matter anymore.

What matters is that this stupid decision opened pandoras box.

Here is a scenario that is very possible according to experts:

Iraq becomes an islamic republic with mullahs as leaders. Encouraged of this in Saudia Arabia and Pakistan an islamic revolution takes place and the mullahs take over.

Pakistans nuclear weapons and a major part of the worldwide oil is in the hands of islamic fundamentalists then.
How do you like this? If this actually happens your government has planted the foundation stone for this development.

What do you think about it?

Sounds to me like you are using an Arabic version of the old Domino Theory that was used as justification for the USA being involved in Viet Nam and South East Asia.

I agree with much of what you say, but I don't see that "Religious Revolution" happening unless the politics in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan change dramatically.

Let's hope the best.

But the effects would be far more dramatic because I don't like the idea of radical muslims being in control of nuclear weapons and oil.
