So how long does it take for them to shed after they hatch? I was under the impression about 1-2 weeks. If so, is it ok to attempt feeding them a small meal immediately after their first shed? I just bought a few farm hatched and was told they were fresh hatchlings that had not even shed yet and therefore have not eaten. I was skeptical at first but they've all gone blue and are due to shed soon.

...within hours of the first shed, but often they'll want to "hunker-down" and rest for a day or two before accepting a meal, and it may take a week or two. SJM

...make the first couple meals smallish, say a large fuzzy or so. This gives the gut a chance to stretch out gradually and help clear meconium (embryo gut sh--). After a few meals you can safely start to offer hoppers, so on and so forth.
