Baby corn snake cage, is this size ok?

justcage Apr 25, 2004 10:52 AM

I am thinking about getting 6 or 8 of the Exo Terra Kritter Keepers. There size is 18 x 11 x 6, would this be ok for baby corns. They would have 3" flexwatt on the bottom of one side. Also to what age would this accomadate a corn. Tnanks in advance,
-Matt

sounds like a good setup and the size is fine for hatchlings

It depends on how fast they grow...just watch and when it gets to the point where the snakes is as long as two of the sides(~18 11) that is usually when it is time for a new box/cage and usually you will be able to tell and want to give him a new home before then :D

I would save myself the headache of the brittle plastic and cost of the Kritter Keepers and get similar sized Sterlite tubs at Walmart and melt (with a $7 soldering iron) holes in them. Works much better and are not gonna crack as soon as you hit it on something. Just an idea.

I had thought about that but I was afraid of them getting out. I know there alot cheaper but would the lids be secure enough? Thanks,

I haven't had any escapes. And I have had hatchlings get out of kritter keepers. So, I think there is always that chance. Obviously don't drill or melt monster holes. 1/8" works. And I find that Sterlite is better, lid security wise, than Rubbermaid.
