Breeding size

well this is my first year breeding and all of my females have hit the 40 gram range. I have read that now is fine to put with the males what do you guys think?

I don't know...I've heard some individual animals NEVER reach 50 grams, and that 45 was reasonable.

40 is just too small, in my opinion anyways. I usually wait until mine are between 55 and 60 grams sometimes even more. I bred a female of mine this year who was 85 grams, and she only dropped down to 75, and has been staying there since. She has given me healthy eggs, and every single one of them has been fertile.

I believe 40 is just too young and your really pushing the breeding thing on a female. If she has more weight on her, she'll be in top notch health, and she just might give you healthier eggs, and maybe even a few extra eggs as well.

40 grams is what I shoot when introducing females for breeding. They will continue to grow throughout the season and after...good luck.
