What are the posssible breeding results for...

pwottle Apr 25, 2004 01:45 PM

What are the posssible offspring from a male super hypo tangerine and a female blizzard? Just wondering because I might buy two of the morphs mentioned.

They would all be het for blizzard (blizzard=simple recessive) and they would range from hypo, hypo tang, tang, high yellow, normal, and though extremely unlikely SH or SHT.

You will most likely get high yellow to normal looking offspring, all heterozygous for blizzard (patternless). If you were trying to produce orange offspring you might take a SHTC and a Patternless. Breed those and then take those hets and breed them together. Then you would have to take your Patternless Tangerines (from the hets) and breed them to a new SHTC. Then you would take those hets and breed them together. It would take probably many years before you could produce a solid orange Patternless.

If you breed those you will get normal looking babies that are heterozygous for albino and blizzard. Then if you breed those babies you will be able to produce some patternless albino babies. I think it is a 1/16 chance of producing a patternless albino? The rest would be pure albino, pure patternless, normal, normal het for patternless and albino, patternless het for Albino, Albino het for patternless, and maybe a patternless albino?

I would like some else to comment on this if they know.

Thanks,

Matt

Blizzard and Patternless are two separate morphs. They are both simple recessives but don't relate to eachother at all. This is second post of yours that I saw you saying blizzard and patternless are the same thing, so decided I would point that out. Hope this clears things up a bit...

Yeah, I thought blizzard is a patternless bred to look white.

you would get all normal double het albino blizzards.
if you bred the dbl hets together there would be theoretically a 1/16 chance of blazing blizzard, but if it didn't have red eyes it wouldn't be a blazing.

Plus a blazzing blizzard is from the Bell line of Albinoism. You can't get a blazzing blizzard from a tremper Albino gene, they don't have red eyes. Tremper Albinos don't carry the red eyed gene.

Blazing blizzards have been produced using Bell albinos (blizzarlizard/prehistoric pets) and by using tremper albino (VMSherp), it is probably possible that rainwaters can produce blazings also. The "red eye trait" is what many people consider the defining point of albinism. In almost all other animals that are albino they are usually all red eyed. But in leos for some reason a bunch of them aren't.

All albinos carry the red eye trait. It's just the Bells that show it?

i believe all albinos carry the red eye trait. But bells are usually the ones that show it. Not all bells are red eyed though. If you do see a red eyed it is probably a bell though.

I know for a fact trempers and bells can be red eyed because i have seen red eyed trempers and bells. I am not sure about the rainwaters but i bet you they can be red eyed also.

What is stated below is incorrect it has been done, VMS has produced blazign blizzards from trempors.
