Dino's new enclosure!! YAY!

reptichik Apr 25, 2004 05:20 PM

Well, here is his new enclosure. Just a couple of finishing touches to be added. First, when I bought the handles for the doors, I inadvertantly bought two different handles, so the other handle still needs to go on. Also, we are installing a catch at the bottom so he cannot escape. The bottom of the left door and the insides of both doors where they meet still need stainless steel trim (didn't buy enough at the hardware store, and they are closed now). And the last thing, I bought a cage for the light, which I will need if the bulb that is in there now stays, but if I change it to a household bulb I don't think I will need it cause I don't think he will be able to touch it, but then again, better safe then sorry!

Oh, also I am installing a digital thermometer. The other one is in there just for a heat check.

It looks great but I have one question. How would you clean it? Mine usually goes in one spot but sometimes goes on his rock or branch which we can remove. How would you clean those rock ledges or cave top?

Well, he almost always goes in his bath, but the fake rocks are covered with polyurethane, so it has the rough look, but is not really that rough. I use Chlorhexidine solution to spot clean, and I think that it will work really well actually. As far as cleaning in the caves, my hand is small enough to get in there with a rag and spray with the chlorhexidine first to clean.
