I was wondering if you guys could tell me why my iguana constanly tries to push through the sides of his (wood, i might add) cage. He always tries to go through the front glass and even tries pushing through the sides. I have put up paper in the eye level areas of glass and that has helped a little, but he still tries to get through the wood sides!!! Any help would be apprieciated.

How big is his enclosure? could it be too small...how old is your iggy? how large? could he be a she and is gravid...my girls always dig in corners, glass or wood, when gravid and restless...just some thoughts....lyn

I dont think the cage is too small, its 6 feet long 4 feet tall and 2.5 feet deep. Kiwi is a male, he's about 10in svl. What are some good things to have in his cage for something to do? he has shelves and a ladder to climb. I wonder if its just to irratate me. he always pushes his food bowl off the top shelf right into his water!..... lol

Grass does the same thing, but only in his outdoor enclosure. I'd just assumed it's because he wants to go exploring in the great outdoors. It's frustrating b/c the enclosure is fine mesh & the rubbing irritates his already banged-up nose.

When i got my ig, her face was a mess. For some reason she cant live in a cage. She becomes overly self destructive. Even when she is roaming arond and she walks into someone elses tank, she panics and starts rubbing her face. Its weird. I think that some iggies are just not meant to be caged.
