BD Eating veggies

gunner3810 Apr 25, 2004 08:01 PM

My BD will not eat veggies. I have tried all types of veggies and mixing canalope and blackberries. I have even tried mixing dry formula (T_Rex crix sented) and he still will not eat it. All he wants is Crix. Any recommendations?

he or she is about 6 months old the temp in his enclosure is about 90-95 degrees and i have tried feeding collard greens with rasberrys and t rex bearded dragon pellet food mixed in.

at 6 months greens are important. basking should be a bit hotter, 105-110. this increases appetite. collard greens are a good start but you need way more variety to find what they like. Try one type of food at a time. try www.beautifuldragons.com for a long list of foods. get the salad going first before introducing pellets. rep-cal seems to be the prefered pellet. you can try putting worms in the bowl with salad to help in the beginning or you can try hand feeding. another trick would be to dust crix with t-rex VGF and then use it on the salad too so the scent is similar.

all veggies until she was about 15 months, just after her second brumation. She still doesn't eat salad every day (except for dandelion flowers....she ALWAYS has at least one if they're available), but on the days after I withhold bugs (don't do that to a 6 month old!) she pigs on her greens.

Make sure the basking spot is 110-115, not the ambient temperature. There is a difference in case you were not aware. The ambient should be 80-85.
