heat question..

jrmiah Apr 25, 2004 10:06 PM

I have 11 inch heat tape under Rubbermaid tubs, I have the tape hooked up to a zoomed rheostat on low (almost off) but the ground temp with newspaper still reads 100 degrees with round thermostats laid on the ground, when I feel it it doesn't feel that hot?? any experience with this?

I'm having the same problem with my UTH plugged into my rheostat turned all the way down as well. Some on here have suggested to plug it into a lamp dimmer. I'm going to pick one up tomorrow and try it. That's what I would suggest trying. If it's saying it's 100 then it's 100 and that's a bit too high.

try gettind digital thermometers, they work better than the round ones/stick on the side ones. or get a temp gun.

I actually have digital thermometers, hygrometers, and a temp gun and that's how I know my warm side is getting a bit too warm now. Thanks for the advice though, it's good advice everyone should take.

I had the same problem using ZooMed thermostats. I got rid of them, went to simple plug-in lamp dimmers, and the problem was solved.
I am very disappointed with ZooMed's thermostats. I have three of them, and they are basically junk.

Just my humble opinion,
Mindy
