I am trying to determine gender and classification information for the Tegu in these three photos.
Q1: Could you please tell me which type of Tegu this is?
I would also like to be able to instantly identify the various species (especially of there are failsafe methods like headscale patterns etc)
Q2: Is there a site where I can find detailed classification information?
I am particularly interested in understanding which differences are simply colour variations/sub species and which are clear indications of separate species.
Q3: How old would the animal have to be before a positive sexing can be ascertained without probing?
(Inexpert probing by "qualified vets" has provided me with a "guaranteed mating pair" of two male boas! and on another occasion left me with a huge guilt trip after seeing another vet probe so badly that if he didn't harm the animal it was a miracle. I don't want to put another animal through this.)
Thank you
TB
