Lavender and Anerythrism Genetics ?

snakepimp Apr 25, 2004 11:55 PM

If a lavender was also homozygous for anerythrism(a) would it be a visible trait?
I bred my Lavender male to my Ghost female and the now pipping hatchlings (16 of them!) seem to be anery, I can't detect the slightest hint of color on their little pointy heads. I will post pics tomorrow. Regardless of whether some of my hatchlings are anery or not, I am interested in the answer. Please no opinions, I need someone with experience with this combination. Thank you in advance for your response

Rich Z has mentioned several times that he has gotten lavenders from anery A's het for lavender, so that suggests that lavenders mask anerythrism (assuming that there are no other homozygous genes included... amel added seems to change all that). That means, yes, it is possible for your Lavender to be homozygous for Anery A. Have fun with your clutch.

"You keep WHAT in your freezer?"
"Mice. And rats. If that bothers you, I can call them 'cows' instead."
