Breeding Het question?

jasonmc Apr 26, 2004 02:06 AM

When breeding two 100% het for albino hogs together. It is pritty safe to assume that you would get a few albinos, right?
I am having strong thoughts of purchasing some but want to know what kind of odds I am looking at.
It just seems that if two 100% hogs are breed together, half would be albino. I just get the feeling that this is wrong. If anyone could settle this for me, I would be super appreciative.
Thanks,
Jason Mc

If you breed two hets together you have a 25% chance of producing an albino snake. However, this is simply the probability of any snake being albino.

If you produce 20 offspring and you might not produce a single albino or or you could get 20 albinos or anything in between. 1/4 of the offspring should be albino, but there are no guarantees.

That pretty much sums it up. In a perfect world you would get 25% albino, 50% het for albino, and 25% normal. The hets and normals would be considered 66% hets becuase you can't tell a het from a normal. Hope that makes sense.

That sounds good enough to make the investment. Thanks for the repys. When it comes to percentages and hets my head starts to spin. Thanks for simplifying it for me.

I breed 100% het to 100% het and had 11 babies and two of them were albinos. next time they breed maybe I will get more maybe I will get less. heres a great link to the hole het to het deal !
