Tiny red worms in my turtle ponds filter what are they?

Im told that there are little worms in my pond filter what are they? I do remember a post here a long time ago about them. Any help would be great thanks.

They're harmless fly larvae. For more info see the "What are these worms?" thread about 2/3 of the way down the general turtle forum page.

They are called bloodworms. Harmless and great turtle food. As said before they are a type of fly larvae.

Some type of fly larvae. the flies remind me of a mosquito size cranefly. I have them too and I think I the eggs of the flies are apparently in as an unintended ingredient of the wardley's pond/koi food I get for my turtles. The worms are harmless if a bit icky looking. My spotted salamander tadpoles however are enjoying their free range snacks that I pull from the turtle pond filter once a week LOL. make a nice supplement to the live black worms and tubifex worms they get.
