It's a baby!!! (with a question)

boas_in_utah Apr 26, 2004 10:27 AM

They started hatching today, which is day number 50 in the incubator. They are just normals, but it is my first time producing ball pythons.

One quick question for those of you out there that slit your eggs. How long after the first baby hatches will you wait until you slit the remaining eggs? I used a modified Hovabator (increased height) and controlled the temperature with a Helix thermostat, so the temps were fairly accurate. Also, what is the best tool for slitting eggs, if you use anything other than regular scissors...

Thanks in advance to all those that reply.

Most do it after the first one pips. That way none of the others have to struggle to get out .

Congratulations your first cluthc! Looking good!

As soon as the first baby sticks it's head out, we go ahead and slit the other eggs (just did it for the first time this year last night). We use small surgical scissors although I believe they make similar scissors for fabric.

Best of luck!
