Use a knife to pick the hard backing off of the cuttle bone. It will come off in pieces. Then break off a chunk of the oval shaped piece and toss it in the tank. It might take a while for the turtle to know what to do with it. But it will disappear eventually, then toss in another piece.

Yes, you can feed crumbled egg shell to your turtle.

Mustard greens are sold in some of the larger super markets. We have them at Kroger and Meijer here in the midwest. Dandelion greens are also an excellent source of nutrition...found in the same place.

.....the very best greens for water turtles are the kind that grow in water. go to a good aquarium store and get some freshwater plants. get some of those little pesty snails to. the stores hate them and will sometimes just give them to you for free, or just cheap.

what do the snails do?

The turtles will eat the snails. Some keepers won't feed snails to their turtles because they can carry flukes, a parasite I believe, and your turtle can become infected.

the ones from the store dont have flukes. they are safe. flukes that live outdoors can have the flukes and that can kill your turtle so dont get snails outdoors and feed them to the turtle. flukes are diffrent from other parasites because they need a bird or mammal to eat them before thay can reproduce. and they need the snail too, so if you keep the snails awaaay from birds and mammals and the snails have babys, the babys are all okay to feed to turtles. the store snails have been inside so there safe
