Right now I have a 20gal aquarium, with full-lighted (fish tank)hood and stand, I would like to turn this into an all-natural terrarium. I have keep Geckos, Anoles and Iguanas in the past, although it has been a few years. I have tried to keep frogs but sadly didn’t have much luck. We got a white tree frog the past on, about 2 months after we got him. Everything seemed to be fine then one day he was gone. I’m not sure what I would like to keep in this terrarium, but would plan in within a year upgrading to a larger (50 to 100 gal). I do know I would like a waterfall, background, wood, plants, rocks, etc. I also plan to keep the tank up and running for at least 4-6 months before adding any baby lizards, frogs or whatever we decide on, therefore making sure all elements are stable. (i.e. temperature, humidity, plant and moss growth, etc.). What are everyone’s suggestions on the waterfall? Building one myself or buy a pre-built one at the pet store? A concern also is that we have hard water here, is there any safe way to soften the water without harming the animal? What are the best soils to use? What plants and moss are suggested? Also is there a favorite wood for tropical environments? Any other suggests, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
