I'm assuming you are talking about a garden type pond and not some huge natural pond? The area around a back yard ponds need to be fenced in so a turtle can not dig under a fence or walk away from it. Uh, does the pond have algae in it so you can't see into it (which is OK) or (hopefully not this) does it need to be cleaned out? How do you know the food is not just dropping to the bottom?
If this is a backyard pond and you do not have a fence around the pond the turtle has definitely wandered off.
