15 inch dragon

pacman101 Apr 26, 2004 06:52 PM

I got this guy back in the beginning of December and he was about 10 1/2 inches.Up until about february he didn't grow much about an 1 1/2.Now he was grown 3 inches since february and is at 15 inches.I think that he is full grown (he could possibly be imbred)My question is he is skinny right now will he bulk up like an adult dragon or look like a sub-adult dragon the rest of his life?

thanks

They all grow at a different rate; they generally bulk up after after their first year. What kind of diet is he on?

I give him collard greens or endive as staple depending on the week dusted with t-rex veggie formula and I also give him waxworms and the very occasional cricket or two.His baskin temps are 98-105 and hes in a 40 breeder.

I had a couple of skinny BDs that bulked up more when I added repcal pellets to their diet. Some people have had wonderful success with very limited live feeders. I use the pellets and VGF with greens but I also feed supers roaches and crix. You may want to try silkies to put on weight.

months, I'd think he'd benefit a lot from more protein than he's getting from waxworms and the occasional cricket.

I'm not sure if I misunderstood your post or not, but it doesn't sound to me like you have any solid evidence that he's stopped growing.

Well when I bought him the owner of the pet store said he was 6 or 7 months old.Why isn't t-rex dust enough protein? Its supposed to be able to be used with cricket-free diets. Its not like I pinch some out of the bottle with my fingers and sprinkle it onto the food.I make sure it is on all of his veggies and I don't use it in a conservative manner.

eating enough? It does sound like he could still be growing, regardless, so maybe he'll fill out later.

I can't imagine my dragon getting enough to eat without providing live prey (she seems to really enjoy the chase), but they're all different, I guess.
