my rescued igg lost the battle

mike d Apr 26, 2004 07:03 PM

I just wanted to let everyone know that my resuced iguana lost the battle last night. i took him out to give him some water by syringe but he wouldnt take it... so i let it go.. he walked around for about 5 min. them i laid down to let him climb around so he could get around easier. he climb up on my chest and died right there.
He was doing so good to. he had energy, ate, drank, but i guess what i did wasnt enough... i was going to go out today and get stuff to build him his own decent size cage. but that wont happen now
This really sucks.. i wanted so bad for him to make it.

So what i am going to do now is sit down and over the next week or so i am going to write up and extensive care sheet and maybe even make a webpage if i can find one that doesnt cost a lot of money to have. and i will use what i have learned from this and what i have learned in general to make it right. so people will know how to care for these lizards. i am going to have alot of pictures showing enclosures, iggs with mdb.. the hole nine yards.. nothing will be left out... so look out because i may be asking for suggestions/pictures from everyone!
I just think that i owe it to all the iguanas that have died from people neglecting them and not learning how to care for them..

i am soo sad for you
that is just awful
you gave him the best last days of his life
(i find it heart touching that even though you had him for a short time, he choose you to be a comfortable safe place to lay down and die, it seems soo loving)

I'm so sorry he didn't make it Just think of how you gave him warmth, food and comfort for his last time here, for probably the first time in his life. I think you are a wonderful person for taking both of those iglets in, and trying to turn them around. You gave him the best quality of life, at least he felt that for a short while.

I'm so sorry. I was following your story, and I was hoping for him to get better, too.

You did all you could for this poor baby. It really pisses
me off that these people let him get to that point.

I could say alot more about this whole thing in defense
of the poor igs but I think you probably feel the same
way I do right now.

Bless you for trying
Linda

Sorry to hear about your other little guy. We all know you did what you could for them both. They were just in too bad of shape and too far gone. It seems this one knew you were trying to help him and crawled up on you for comfort or to say thanks. Good luck with your care sheet. I'm sure it will help a lot of people, well actually iggys.
