Hi, I've been looking for 2 years for a nice non-specific locality blairs light phase and a couple have popped up in the classifieds but they were way too expensive for me. I guess pickers cant be choosers but... The current gray band in the classifieds is a nice looking grayband but its $125 plus shipping. Could someone help me out or put me in the right direction. Anything helpful. Thanks alot! -Will

usually cheap greybands ain't good!! If you want to go the route of a non-feeding baby or one that feeds on lizards, then you can get them fairly inexpensively, especially at local shows. However, an established feeding baby on pinkies is going to cost more due to the time and effort it has taken the breeder to get it to that point to make life easier on the buyer. Greybands aren't like cornsnake babies that usually have a high percentage of feeders on pink mice right after the first shed. Also, the most classic color/patterned animals may command higher prices as do any "screamer" examples of any snake species. Also, as a rule adults that are established and feeding and potentially breeding are going to cost more as well (once again, its a time and effort thing). There was a time in the not so distant past when alternas commanded several hundreds of dollars.

Thanks. What would a reasonable price be then? I have two graybands that I bought as hatchlings last year and they were 80 dollars each, and eating pinkies. The hatchling in the classifieds right now is $125 plus another 30 for shipping, and its feeding on pinkies. -Will

on a number of factors. Is the animal in question a desirable locality animal from a reputable alterna breeder? Is it an exceptionally colored/patterned animal? Also, if you bought your hatchlings this past summer at a show, they were indeed hatchlings. The advertised animal (as well as the cb03 animals)is a juvie/yearling now. So, theoretically it has growth on it, etc. In general, the price seems a bit high to me IMO. I would wait til an upcoming show was in your area, or better yet contact a reputable alterna breeder if you want to get something different from what you already have. Then again, if the animal is in your opinion something you definitely want, sometimes you just have to suck up the cost and go for it-LOL.
