She's going to eventually knock herself out..HELP : )

RedQuake Apr 26, 2004 10:04 PM

Hi, i need some help. First, the stuff in Coco's eye came out on its own the day after i posted about it. Both eyes are bright and clear.........BUT she is running into stuff. The side of her hides and the sides of her tank. She freaks out easily and usually does a header into something in the process.
Even when walking slowly around her tank in the evening i see her bang into stuff.

I know she is seeing cause she does catch crickets.....actually if i bring down the container of them she comes out to the glass and looks up waiting for me to remove the top and start dropping them in.

Also, she's a jungle, and her spots extend on to her underside. Its very cool to see when she lifts up her head. Theres still some area of just tan coloured skin but not very much. Is that normal?

I'm going to cover all but the front of her tank in dark paper so she can't see through the glass. Should i put something along the bottom half of the front of the tank so she can't see out as easy?

If anyone has any other suggestions or advice about her i'd be very appreciative. I'm actually worried that one of these days she's going to knock herself out

Thanks,
Red

Have you had her long? If not maybe she was housed in a rack before and she is not used to the clear glass.
Whatever it is hopefully she'll stop soon.

THanks for responding. I didn't even think about having been in a rack. I'm not actually sure but she did come from a breeder so maybe. I've had her since April 18th.

I'm hoping she stops soon too. Its amazing how she comes out to see me when i get out the crickets and i love seeing her. I think as long as my movements aren't quick she'll be ok and wrapping all but the front of the tank would help alot. I put her in a 20 gal long tank and she mainly sticks to the warm side in a hide.

THanks again
Red

I have same problem with one of my females. It started when she didn't shed some skin from inside the ear, and she still has like a tic to the right side sometimes. She's been like that for a year now, and has not injured herself @ all, even though I have rocks in the enclosure. Don't worry too much, but hopefully it will stop.
