GUYANA FEEDING QUESTIONS

biggworm Apr 27, 2004 01:07 AM

I have a 7 foot guyana female that I just turned around from a seriouse R.I., mouthrot, necrotic tail tip and to top things off, worms. She was in bad shape, but I managed to nurse her back to health. My question is,I feed her one large rat or two medium rats PER WEEK.I'm not planning to breed her this year,I'm gonna let her heal.Am I pushing her too much? She's responding and packing on the weight.Should I go every ten days instead? This pic is about a month old.I appreciate your responce.

If you are not going to try and breed her then yes I would go to one large or jumbo rat every 10 days. Even the constant feeding/digesting of food can be a stressor for a healing snake and the extra few days will give her some down time to rest and get more stregth back.
Good job on bringing her this far, it sounds like you really had an up hill battle with her and you should be proud to have save her!
