Shedding Problems HELP!!!

ghostkeeper Apr 27, 2004 11:23 AM

I just bought a BRB CB Adult male. He went into shed and developed these "Blisters" only in a few spots. They are filled with a white puss. I lanced them and the skin piled right off. the skin underneath was fine no wounds or marks. I spoke to a few other snake owners and it has been suggested that the spots were areas that had old skin that never came off. That the puss wass the skin fixing the problem. Has anybody ever encountered this. He has just shed and looks fine even the areas that had the "blisters". Any Ideas?? Thanks in advance!!

Chester,
. It is difficult to tell from your description how serious the problem was, or still is. Most BRB skin problems are caused by being kept on dirty or acidic substrate. BRBs pass more liquid urine than other snakes. If they are left on substrate that has been urine soaked they can develop blisters. I would keep the snake on clean newspaper substrate until you are sure the problem has cleared up.
Good luck,
Jeff
