Too Fat??

smith710 Apr 27, 2004 02:35 PM

Is this gecko too fat for its age? Its only about 4-5 months and its really fat compared to the other ones ive seen. If it is too fat should i cut down on feeding it or what should I do? Or is there anything wrong with it?
Thank You

if they are caged together try seperating them, the other one should catch up.

The pic didn't show up (because it is linked to your C: drive), but in my opinion, there's no such thing as a 4-5 month old leos that's too fat. For the first 6-8 months I feed as much as the leos want to eat. During this time there are growing and need as much nutrition that they can get.

For males, you can begin decreasing frequency of feedings at around 9 month of age, and the same for females if they are not being bred. IF you plan to breed your girls, I say feed freely.

Your supposed to feed them as much as they will eat when they are 6-8 months? In my case taht would be 25 half inch crickets and 10 mealworms a day. I think 13 crickets and 5 mealworms and occasionally a wax worm is good enough for a 8 month. Or is that to less?

I have a 8 month old hypo tang. that weights 100 grams would that be considered normal? She eats 15-20 mealies a day.
