Frodo, my 6 month old Nosy Be Panther began mysteriously escaping from his habitat...a Chameleon Canopy, which is an open habitat (see picture). This was strange to me because Percy, my veiled cham who used the Canopy before Frodo, only escaped once in 4 years and that was because a pothos vine had grown too far down and touched the plastic "habitat extender"...which you can see in the picture(clear plastic extending out over edge of large bottom bowl). Anyway, it was strange because I made sure all of his branches that stick out from the top flower pot are shorter than the circumference of the habitat extender....they do not go over the edge...not even close. After 3 escapes. I set up a video camera in the room. Of course, the 1st 2 days I set up the camera, he stayed put! But on the 3rd day, he escaped and lo and behold, I caught Frodo's escape on tape! He went all the way to the edge of one of his branches and basically took a flying leap off! Amazing! When he jumped, he did so with all four legs extended all the way out....like a parachute jumper waiting to pull the rip-cord! We're talkin' a close to 5 foot drop here, folks!...onto a hardwood floor! I'm amazed and glad he didn't get hurt! I've cut back all of his branches and after 3 days, no escapes. I'm going to try and digitize the videotape and share it with The Forum....if anone knows any way I can do this, let me know. Thanks
